The Holden car was founded in 1856 by
James Alexander Holden. The first Holden car commercially sold in Australia in
1949 the price was 733 (including tax).
All Australian- built Holden vehicles are manufactured at Elizabeth South
Australia and engines are produced at the fisherman’s bend plant in Port
Melbourne. In the 1950s Holden vehicles were exported to New Zealand. In 1962
Holden sold a million vehicles. In 1978, the company introduced its most
popular car the commodore.
