Holden Today

In 2017 there will be no factories in Australia. They will be making and selling Holden cars overseas. Holden Today has taken the covers off the quickest, most powerful, most advanced commodore ever built the VF series II Commodore which was unveiled at the bands headquarters on Sunday the 13th of September at 10am. This car is the final edition of the homegrown commodore that will be made in Australia.

2. Commodore

        

The Commodore is the most popular Holden.

 Since 1978, there are many different Holden commodores.

Initially introduced as a single sedan body style, the range expanded in 1979 to include a station wagon. From 1984, Holden began branding the flagship Commodore model as Holden Calais, with the Commodore Berlina introduced in 1984 gaining independent Holden Berlina nomenclature in 1988.

 

 

 

 

 

3. Racing

The Holden Racing Team is a Melbourne based motor racing team. Formed in 1990 it is the most successful V8 supercar team in the history of the category, having won the drivers championship six times and the series signature race, the Bathurst 1000 seven times.
The Holden Racing Team is the factory team of Australian car manufacturer Holden and its performance vehicle partner Holden Special Vehicles. The team is based in Clayton where it shares its facilities with sister Walkingshaw performance team Walkinshaw Racing.
The teams current full-time drivers, Gath Tander and James Courtney are contracted until the end of the 2016 season.
Holden's official factory racing team has become one of the biggest success stories in Australian sports. The 2012 season was a rebuilding year for Holden Racing Team, leading into a rewarding 2013 season with the new VF commodore.

 

1. History of the Holden

The Holden car was founded in 1856 by James Alexander Holden. The first Holden car commercially sold in Australia in 1949 the price was 733 (including tax).  All Australian- built Holden vehicles are manufactured at Elizabeth South Australia and engines are produced at the fisherman’s bend plant in Port Melbourne. In the 1950s Holden vehicles were exported to New Zealand. In 1962 Holden sold a million vehicles. In 1978, the company introduced its most popular car the commodore.
